**This position requires travel throughout the state of California.  Competitive pay plus $150 a day per diem**

Summary: 

The ideal candidate will be able to manage, develop, implement, and provide training for tree removal, trimming, and right-of-way projects.  Must be able to plan, implement and supervise project safety; manage injury, illness, and accident prevention programs; and comply with corporate safety program standards on all job sites.  Must also be proficient in subject matter knowledge of tree care industry safety regulations and best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Experience in the Prevention and Control of tree care industry working conditions along with the ability to recognize and correct unsafe acts or unsafe behaviors.
  • Experienced and proficient in accident/incident investigations, safety infractions, unsafe conditions/activities, and ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Conducts hazard assessment of activities and determine corrective actions and PPE necessary to minimize exposure.
  • Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety training and orientation programs.
  • Works in extreme weather environments.
  • Walks long distances over rough and/or variable terrain.
  • Conducts classroom and field training of project personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience with utility line clearance tree trimming, hazardous tree removal, along with right-of-way land clearing experience (new construction).  Extensive experience with Electrical Hazard Awareness Programs (EHAP) and ability to train or qualify others in EHAP.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of heavy equipment, line clearance and/or right-of-way land clearing safety requirements, and ANSI Z133.1 Safety Requirements.
  • Credentials such as Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP), Certified Arborist, or other tree care industry equivalent credentials are preferred.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record. May be required to drive at night and work alone for long periods of time.

Education and Experience: 

Occupational Safety/Health degree, AS or BS in Forestry, Urban Forestry, or Arboriculture and/or equivalent combinations of training and related experience. Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP), Certified Arborist, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similar professional certification highly preferred.
